American Royal Parade Sept. 17, 2011

Kansas City, Mo.

The GKCTCC was represented in the American Royal Parade on Saturday, Sept. 17th in Kansas City, Mo. by 19 green and yellow tractors and a gator.  The parade route went from Crown Center on Grand Avenue to 13th Street with no one running out of gas.  The weather was cold to cool but dry for us during the parade.  After we were all loaded and ready for the trailer gate party it started to rain.  Nobody got wet because the party was setup under the overhead roadway in parking lot A at the American Royal building.  Everyone seemed to have a good time---if they didn’t it was their problem.  Drivers of the green and yellow paint included:  Duane Spieker, Joe Meyer, Llyod Mesmer, Bill Eagleburger, Mike Corum, Paul Antes, Bob Surber, Andrew DuBois, Kim Phillips, Stan Tracz, Earl Kurth, John Diddie, Bary Porter, Bryce York, Trevor Ross, Glenn Ratzlaff, Don Hrabik pulling the float (THE OTHER DEARS) and Jean DuBois leading the group with the gator. Joe Steineger, one of our very own, pulled the Agricultural Hall of Fame float entry.  Thanks to Bill Eagleburger for finding a new and dry location for unloading, Mike Corum and Crystal for providing the grill along with the cooking, Andrew and Jean DuBois for providing the main food, Don and Janice for providing the paper goods and a cooler of drinks and everyone else who brought the sweets.  It would take a lot to spoil a parade with a trailer gate party.

P.S.--Trivia

The announcer at the parade called one of our drivers “a low rider”.  Who it was will be divulged at the Nov. 6th meeting in Adrian, Mo.
