The Dream Factory Tractor Cruise was a huge success on May 5th in Independence, MO under partly cloudy skies. Dan Hanna, chairperson, and his committee did an excellent job of organizing the cruise. Over 80 tractors of all colors participated in the cruise (38 miles) which raised over $14,235 for the Dream Factory. Some of the tractors made it all the way and a few didn’t. Lets put it this way, the chase rollbacks were rather busy. Registration started around 6:30 a.m. with a tractor drivers meeting at 9:30 a.m. and then leaving the Town Square at 10:00 a.m. Larry Moore, Channel 9 TV News and Honorary Chairperson, thanked everyone for coming and was available for the send off. Lunch (1 hour) was provided by Sibley Orchards at 12:30 p. m. The next stop was Fort Osage Middle School for a break and then returning to Independence, MO around 4:00 p.m. Following the cruise, the group had a delicious barbecue dinner and a drawing at the RLDS Park Thanks to Maxine Hooper for the wonderful dessert. All drivers plus a few other people received a prize which made for a perfect day. Some drivers earned a nick name from the cruise, such as, “Three Wheel” and “Tough Luck”. Anyone wanting to match the name with a face should be at the June meeting. Thanks to all club personal who helped in one way another with the cruise.. A special thanks to the City of Independence, Independence Police and Jackson County Sheriff Motorcycle Patrols, Independence “76” Fire Company, Carstar of Blue Springs, Sibley Orchards and RLDS Church for their hospitality. Yes, it was truly a “Short Ride for Young Dreams” and everyone enjoyed every minute of it.
