April GKCTCC Meeting and BarBeCue — April 1, 2007

The rocket ship landed at Overland Tow Services on April 1, 2007 for the club Meeting/Barbecue with around 60 people on board. Thanks to Joe and Lori Meyer along with Spike Spieker for a job well done. Everything about the day was perfect from the weather and hospitality to the delicious barbecue, beans, salads and desserts. Thanks to everyone who brought the salads and desserts. Minutes of the February 11 meeting were approved along with a financial report by Bary Porter. The president gave an overview of the Western Farm Show and thanked everyone for helping. Dan Hanna made a short progress report on the Dream Factory Tractor Cruise scheduled for May 5, 2007. Farm Heritage Day at the National Center and Agricultural Hall of Fame on Saturday, July 14, 2007 was discussed. This year the club will be using the White Mule Sled (Larry Sewell) for the large tractor pull. Other club activities will include a garden tractor pull, two pedal tractor pulls, tractor display, parade of power, tractor games and plowing demonstration weather permitting. The 2007 Schedule of Events was approved as amended. John Didde reminded everyone that the plow day has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 7, 2007 starting at 9:00 a.m. Three members expressed an interest in purchasing club jackets. It takes five jackets before an order can be placed so if anyone is interested please let the president know. Door prizes were won by Theresa Read, Dalamar Read, Glenn Ratzlaff and Bob Antes. Following the formal meeting a barbecue dinner was enjoyed by all. It took extra rocket fuel to get the heavier payload off the ground following the meeting. WOW! What a blast off.
