Show-Me Tractor Cruise

Letter from Wes;

June 28, 2008: After a night of heavy rains, what a beautiful clear morning we enjoyed traveling north on I- 29. The following club members and friends were among 300 plus tractors in the 7th annual Show Me Tractor Cruise for Camp Quality.

Bob Antes, John Deere 630
Dan Hanna, John Deere B
Glenn Ratzlaff, John Deere 60
Bill Eagleburger, John Deere 420
Blake Eagleburger, John Deere 1020
Tim Simmons, Farmall SH
Wes Storm, Farmall SM (Yes it was Red)

We left the Derr Equipment Company and traveled through some very scenic rural farm areas, with some very nice looking corn fields. Then we passed some flood ravaged farms and a small town where things looked pretty bleak. Through more lush corn fields and fields of beans trying to break out of the hard crust. We enjoyed a nice lunch in a very beautiful park in St. Joseph, then wound through the country back to a great BBQ at the end of a 54 mile trip. All our tractors ran like fine oiled machines. It was a wonderful day, and we all enjoyed the great company of old friends and meeting and making new friends. We are truely blessed here in the heartland of this great country.

Letter from Glen;

Well, the last two weeks were busy for the "East Side Tractor Guys" with participation in the Camp Quality tractor cruise at Savanah, Mo. We rode for approximatly 60 mile around the country side of St Joe and in the Green Park area. It was a very pleasant day for a tractor ride. Bob Antes, Wes Storm, Bill Eagleburger, Blake EagleBurger, Glenn Ratzlaff, Dan Hanna And Tim Simmons all brought tractors for the cruise. All went well, with no breakdowns, until we pulled into Derr Equipment at the conclusion of the ride. There we saw a 630 that looked like it had been rolled. After we loaded our tractors, we went back to investigate what happened. We found out that the accident had happened en route to the cruise. The tractor was tied down with a log chain in front but only a nylon strap wrapped around the battery box and rear axel housing. The Strap evidently broke, the tractor bounced off the trailer with the front chain remaining attached and the tractor being dragged along side the trailor. It was a mess. Moral of the story is be sure to tie your tractor firmly to the trailer.

The "East Side Tractor Guys" also participated in the Sugar Creek, Mo. 4th of July parade. We had 15 tractors there, Ray Miller brought 3 J. I. Case's to include a military version of the SC Case. It's very rear. Bob Antes, Wes Storm, Glenn Ratzlaff, Dan Hanna, Ken Hooper, Mike Neff, Donnie Miller, Lawrence Walter,Vince Turley all brought tractors. As usual the parade terminated in Mike Onka park with free hot dogs and soda's. I stuck around for the awaard ceremony and learned our group took 2nd place in the automotive division.
